Assist. Prof. Dr. Osama Fadel Abdul Latif, the associate rector for scientific affairs at the University of Baghdad received recently a visiting delegation headed by the Japanese ambassador in Iraq Mr. Naofumi Hashimoto to discuss matters related to the mutual agreement signed previously in 2017 between the college of arts and Chiba University after the inauguration of a language laboratory at the college.
The rector of Chiba University, Prof. Keiko Sakai stated during his speech that his country seeks to expand academic agreements with the Iraqi side in order to open a department for teaching the Japanese language after getting the preliminary approval of the dean of the college, Prof. Salah Fleifel Ayed.
This visit included also exchanging experiences between the two sides in research and fellowships as well benefiting from the Japanese scientific expertise in various academic fields where the two sides held a joint symposium at the Japanese embassy in Baghdad in the presence of the rector of the Iraqi University Prof. Dr. Ali al-Jubouri, a number of former rectors of Iraqi universities and the Japanese advisor of cultural relations and public affairs. It is worth mentioning that such meetings are held annually in Baghdad and Tokyo.
